Immediate Call For Action – Maryland and Immigration Law
From IndivisibleMoCo: The Maryland Senate Judiciary Proceedings Committee is discussing the Maryland Trust Act, which has already passed the Maryland State House. This bill would prevent Maryland law enforcement from inquiring about a person's legal immigration status while allowing them to prosecute offenders regardless of status. Find out who your Maryland state senators are and give them a call asking them to support the legislation. Then call Governor Hogan and tell him to support it as well: 410-974-3901.
From Takoma Park Mobilization: Tired of immigrant and Muslim-bashing and the erosion of constitutional rights? Right now, Maryland Senate President Thomas Mike Miller is deciding whether we will pass the TRUST Act which would ensure that immigrants and Muslims are protected from state involvement in federal attacks on our civil rights. But we need you to take action now. Please contact Senate President Mike Miller in any of the following ways and let him know:
"We need to pass a TRUST Act that respects all immigrants and Muslims and recognizes that America remains a place where the constitution is upheld, regardless of who occupies the White House."
It is particularly important for Maryland District 27 constituents in southern Prince George's County, Calvert County, and northern Charles County. We need to generate calls to Miller from constituents, asking him to enact the Trust Act.
From IndivisibleHoCo: Get friends and family if the following districts to tell their state Senators on the Judiciary Committee to send the Trust Act to the floor for a vote ASAP
